the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter

PASTORAL CARE

HOME COMMUNION

Holy Comforter has a long history of providing for the needs of shut-ins and others who cannot attend regular church service and receive the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist. We have a group of Lay Eucharistic Ministers that each week take Communion into our community and visit the sick, persons in nursing homes, and others who are unable to come to regular church service. We are the point of contact for persons who otherwise may not be in contact with our greater church community.
-
What is the outward and visible signs?
In the Eucharist is bread and wine, given and received according to Christ command.
-
What is the inward and spiritual grace given in the Eucharist?
The Holy Communion is the Body and Blood of Christ given for his people and received in faith.
-
What are the benefits we receive in the Lord’s Supper?
The benefits we receive are the forgiveness of our sins, the strengthening of our union with Christ and one another, and the foretaste of the heavenly banquet which is our nourishment in eternal life.

Our commissioning each Sunday:
May you carry the prayers of all of us as you take this sacrament of Christ’s presence. We are one body because we share one bread and one cup.
