Vestry Election Candidates
The following are our vestry nominees. Each nominee was asked to write a brief statement about their experience that has prepared them to serve on the vestry and what they hope to see the vestry accomplish in 2028. On Sunday, November 16th there will be a “Meet and Greet” at the back of McMaster Hall to give our parishioners a chance to get to know a bit more about our nominees. The election will be held in the church on Sunday, November 23, immediately following the service.

Carrie Alvarenga I have taken multiple teacher leadership roles at my school, including new teacher mentorship, coaching, club and honor society sponsorships, and department head. I have experience planning student events. I enjoy facilitating progress, and I’d like to see continued growth of our youth and community outreach programs.

Randy Bryan My main qualification might be my desire to see Holy Comforter survive and thrive. I have served on the Vestry two previous times. Last term on Vestry, I served as Jr Warden for two years and Treasurer for a year. Had to make some difficult decisions and recommendations. Libby and I have been members of Holy Comforter for over 40 years. We have seen many changes; some good, some not so good. Through everything, I never lost that sense that the Holy Spirit had me in the right place. May God continue to bless us with his presence.

This is not something I sought out, but I believe if you are called, you should answer. I honestly know very little about what a vestry does, but I know I have a heart for this church and I believe in its good works and its generous spirit. My goal for the vestry this year would be to learn more about what it does first-hand and do my best to support its work, encourage those around me, and add a fresh perspective to what we do.

Denny Brown I worshipped and served at All Saints, Montgomery for a little over 40 years, aka a long time. I was on the vestry most of those years. I served as Junior Warden a time or two, and Senior Warden several times. Twice my three year term was extended as Senior Warden. There were two periods when we were between priests, I was in charge of All Saints. I have served as Lem/Lecter. I have conducted Morning prayer a few times. I once did a memorial service for a parishioner who passed, at the request of his family. I did all of it. Bev and I have been to Cursillo as pilgrims, and have served on staff three times. I have served on staff with Kairos at Staton Correctional Facility 19 times, usually as music team/ leader. I lead Staton Kairos #25. I want to do my part to help make Holy Comforter a place where all people would like to worship, pray and sing together, and enjoy good fellowship.
